When in New York Eat at Alfredo's of Rome

Ladies you can be proud. In 1914, Fettuccine Alfredo was created for a pregnant lady. Who knew? Today, I had a business lunch at the New York location of this old Italian establishment with 3 British businessman who tasted the Fettuccine Alfredo for the first time. They loved it, so did I.

The story goes that in 1914 Alfredo's wife was pregnant and she had lost her appetite (not my wife). Alfredo went to his kitchen and mixed egg noodles with parmigiano cheese and butter to create Fettuccine Alfredo that even his wife could not resist. The rest is story. Alfredo's now exists in 4 locations including Rome, New York, Las Vegas and Orlando.

As I mentioned, I was with 3 British subjects. They had heard of Fettuccine Alfredo but never tasted it. One of them said "...we have a WalMart like store called Tesco. For a while they were selling jars of Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken. I am sure that this is much better." Yeah it is. Alfredo's dish is creamy, cheesy and oh so satisfying. When you wrap the pasta around your fork, you can actually see the strings of cheese stretching. They are not stingy with the ingredients.

I  also shared 4 balls of Profiterol with them. They were filled with homemade ice cream and covered with bitter sweet chocolate syrup. Very delicious and not obscenely large like the ones you get at Maggiano's. Sized as God intended for the Profiterols. :-) Enjoy.
