WHY Small plated tapas dishes ideal for sharing. Kids will like the Croquetas de Pollo, which are the original chicken tenders. Try the Gambas al Ajillo which is shrimp cooked in garlic and pepper fl avored olive oil. Ladies will like the lower fat Ensalada Campera Tapa, which is tuna, fingerling potatoes, green beans, tomatoes and hard boiled eggs. Guys go for a hardy Butifarra Casera con Mongetes, which are homemade grilled pork sausage with sautéed white beans. Make sure to try the homemade goat cheese ice cream.

WHO Family friendly restaurant and a great date spot.
WHY Owners experienced in serving Nouveau Turkish food to Europeans and North Americans. Try the Lentil Soup prepared with red lentils, peppermint and other seasonings. Shepherd Salad with Feta Cheese rich in diced tomatoes, cucumbers, parsley and onions, feta cheese and topped with olive oil-lemon dressing. Make sure to try the Turkish Pizza Lahmacun, which is a Turkish Pizza, thin and crispy, with chopped lamb and vegetables and garnished with onions, tomatoes and lemon. For an entrée try the Shish Yogurt served with tender cuts of grilled lamb and red and green peppers, served on a bed of toasted flat bread, topped with tomato-yogurt sauce.

WHO Operated by Hillstone Restaurant Group that brought us Houston’s. Upscale version of Houston’s. Family, group and date night friendly.
WHY Freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juice for your cocktails. Screwdriver anyone? Great Spinach and Artichoke Dip served with chips, salsa and sour cream. Unbelievably tasty French Dip sandwich with thinly-sliced prime rib served medium on a house-made French roll with mayonnaise. One of the best and tender Baby Back Ribs you will ever have. My wife’s favorite Gulf Coast Fish Sandwich served with crispy grouper with red onion and thousand Island dressing on a house-made bun. Interestingly, if you order wine at the bar prior to being seated, their computer system will remember your selection for your meal. Don’t miss the nightly live jazz.

Owner Cavit Ozturk and Chef Yucel Atalay (former chef of famed Nizam) have 50 years of restaurant business between them, and it shows. Try the Imam Bayildi, which is prepared with baby eggplants stuff ed with onion, tomato, garlic, and parsley, baked with olive oil. Don’t miss the Lentil Koft e (lentil balls) cooked with red lentils, cracked wheat, and spices , served with spring onions. Don’t miss the grilled selection, including Bronzino fi sh and the Turkish Doner Kebab.

WHO Family and date friendly. Tends to get very loud, so be prepared. Yes, the owners are two ladies named Amy.
WHY The only officially recognized Neapolitan pizza in Metro DC built on Italian government standards “Denominazione di Origine Controllata.” When in 2 Amys eat the Pizze Etna made with eggplant confi t, olives, capers, oregano and grana, or the Puttanesca cooked with tomato sauce, rapini, fresh mozzarella, garlic, anchovy and hot pepper. If you are really hungry order some of the freshest homemade Italian cold cuts, pickles and more. Sweets selection includes homemade sorbets and, my favorite, Almond Cake.

WHY Good variety of food forming a cosmopolitan menu suitable for everyone. If you like meat, try the Tuskie’s Burger for lunch. Great tasting meat served with unassuming Graft on smoked cheddar, lettuce, tomato and house made pickles. If you are in the mood for a fulfilling salad, try the generously portioned Ceviche Seafood Salad served with snapper, shrimp and scallops marinated in citrus and rum sauce with cilantro. Th e salad version of this popular Peruvian dish is served with local greens, avocado, golden tomatoes and a very interesting pineapple-chayote salsa.

WHY Go for some of the freshest sushi rolls in and around town. My favorite is Passion Fish Roll which is their version of the favorite Rainbow Roll, served with Masago roe and mustard soy dressing. Also try the Sea Spider Roll Crispy prepared with soft shell crab, cucumber, sesame seeds and Masagoroe. For the main dish make sure to have the Monkfi sh “Osso Bucco” served with Milanese Saff ron Pearl pasta risotto, basil pesto marinara and Prosciutto crisp. For dessert, fresh assorted berries with Chantilly cream are a perfect light selection.

When available try it served with salad and warm poached egg or with carbonara pasta. For dessert why not share a plate of artisanal cheeses.

WHY Entertaining ambiance designed to make you feel like you are in Paris. Recommend the rich Onion Soup when it is served hot and not so salty. Good selection of quick dishes such as Roasted Chicken and Frites, Endive and Blue Cheese Salad served with melon and watercress a la Turka. You can also try the Thyme Seared Salmon which is served with creamy orzo, spinach and lemon butter.
