JamboKids (Jambo is Swahili for Hello) was started by Clara Conti and Richard Rawson, Psy.D. and who live in Great Falls, VA. A few years after they adopted their daughter from China, they wanted to give her stories that inspired and toys to which she could relate to.

The idea expanded into a line of multicultural toys and books for all kids.
