Paint Tips

Your Situation:
You know your home needs the kind of sprucing up that can only be achieved through color! But you’ve heard the horror stories about badly blended paint shades and mismatched furnishings. Or perhaps you’ve experienced it yourself. Here are a few tips on how to find the right paint color for your home:

Tip 1
Find pictures in home-decorating magazines that you like and make a file of them. Take the file with you when shopping for paint. Also, don’t forget a cushion from your couch, a pillow, or a fabric swatch of your window treatments.

Tip 2
Buy a sample and test it on your wall. It may seem more intense on your wall than on a paint swatch. If it is, you’ll know to go down a notch or two on the paint deck.

Tip 3
Look deeper at the paint color to see its undertones. Are they fleshy and pink? Cool and grey? Do you want the room to have a warm or cool feeling?

Tip 4
Do the colors for each room of the house flow? Look at your paint swatches together. Is it a pleasing palate or do they clash with one another?

Tip 5
Get professional help. Your local Interior Refiners can help you with a paint consultation that will not break the bank and will give you peace of mind.
