Those of you who follow my blogs and articles know that if I don't have anything good to say about an eatery, I simply don't write about it. I am making an exception for Manhattan Pizzeria located at 43930 Farmwell Hunt Plaza in Ashburn. I am writing a negative review not because their food was not good, but because they showed very little regard to customer service and satisfaction.
For my new work at a “big four” consulting company, I frequently travel to New York. So when I arrived to our house from NYC late in the afternoon and found my wife sick, I decided to order some food for dinner. I had picked up Manhattan Pizzeria's flyer from our mailbox so I thought why not give them a try. Big mistake!
We ordered a steak and cheese pizza, a kid's hot dog and fries, gyro platter and a 6 pack of Diet Pepsi. (Yes, we are on a diet) The person who took our order said that the delivery time was 45
minutes. Not too bad we thought. An hour went by and after a phone call to the Pizzeria, our food showed up at our door. We paid $45 including tips and accepted the food. The food was luke warm at best. We realized that we could heat up the pizza in the oven (why did I order food delivery again?) and that the fries, gyro had gone bad and they had to be thrown away. They were simply too soggy and cold to be eatable.
We called the establishment hoping for a refund or sympathy or an apology. Instead what we got was first, your food is not cold, followed by food gets called when it is delivered in 1 hour, and then we never told you it was going to be 45 minutes. Anything but a simple "We are sorry. How can we make it up to you?" After 2-3 minutes of telling us it was our fault that the food was cold, the owner said "Ok, ok I will give you 20% next time." To that we simply said "There will not be a next time."
