Men Who Do Housework Have More Sex!

I recently found this article from Dr. Laura Bermans' Passion Files, and decided it was worth reprinting for you, the loyal readers of I Am Modern Magazine! This is a goodie, and it will remind you all of an earlier article I wrote about "Choreplay".

"Tell your honey that he can mop, dust, and wash his way to better sex! It's true! Men who pitch in around the house have happier sex lives and (no surprise) better marriages.

Psychologist John Gottman has been studying couples for more than 30 years to figure out what makes a relationship fail or succeed. He's discovered that men who do housework frequently have more and better quality sex. This makes sense, since arguing over whose turn it is to do the laundry isn't exactly a turn-on. Most importantly, men who are willing to take on household chores show their partners that they care and understand their many reponsibilities- a powerful aphrodisiac for women. Having him help out allows you to quiet your mind, creating the space you need to become more sexual.

So approach him with the issue in a low-key but direct way. Ask for the help you need, instead of complaining or acting the martyr. Try to work with each other's preferences- you cook, he does the dishes, for instance. Or one of you dusts while the other scrubs. Working out a schedule that suits both of you can help prevent a lot of conflict. Soon enough, your house won't be the only thing that's fabulous and new!"
