Greek and Italian cooking are two of the major cuisines of the world. So why would anyone decide to merge the two? I do not know the answer to that, but the end result is a menu with more than a hundred items. I did not try anyone of the Italian foods off the menu, but concentrated on the Greek dishes that are native to the owner’s country of origin.
Let us start with the soup, Avgolemono, which was also a staple of my mother’s dinner table when I was growing up in Istanbul. A cream base made with chicken broth, orzo, egg and lemon. The orzo is cooked in chicken broth. a well-beaten egg and lemon juice are added in the end to give it that creamy texture. In Istanbul, we call this process “taming the soup.” This soup may very easily become your new comfort food.
Next, I tried the gyro platter, my son ordered chicken tenders and my three-year-old daughter went for the pasta with marinara sauce from the kid’s menu. The gyro platter is piled with enough food for two people. The taste of the gyro was generally good. I think the slices could have been cut a little thinner which would have made the gyro pieces leafier. My kids were both impressed with the taste of their food. The chicken was tender and the marinara sauce was rich, thick and flavorful. If you happen to be biking in and around Ashburn, this should be a great lunch stop for you.
