What happened to my Mariah? What void inside her is she trying to fill? We have a running joke in our house. I love Mariah Carey. I love the way she looks, some of her songs, and the way she looks in her videos. My wife, on the other hand, cannot stand her. She hates her singing, her voice, and the way she looks. I won't use all the words she says to describe Mariah's looks.

If you believe the tabloids she gained weight because she feels comfortable in her new marriage. I did not know that there was such a thing as succumbing to "the newlywed curse of piling on the pounds after marrying."

Mariah is turning 40 this year. It is hard to believe how time flies in between her albums. I can't believe that it was in 1991 that a fresh faced Mariah released her first album under her husbands company brand, CBS. She was young, different looking and able to hit wildly varying pitches with her voice. She then divorced her executive husband. Her looks changed drastically. She shed her clean butterfly like image and became a sometimes voluptuous sex symbol in her videos. She also became very eccentric. I think my wife told me that she slept with 2 humidifiers in her bedroom. We can't stand one humidifier that sits in our hallway.

When she released her "#1's" album with the cover picture that you see in this blog, my wife screamed "Yeah, like that photo is not photoshopped." What can I say? My wife has a running feud with her, unknown to Mariah I am sure. Photoshopped or not, it seems Mariah has a weight problem like most of the population of the earth or at least the United States. It makes her more like us and much to my wife's chagrin, makes me like her more.
