Some of you may have already met Tiffany Bogaty, the head aesthetician of Loudoun Dermatology, when she was featured in the Spring 2008 issue of this magazine. In person she is both as energetic and knowledgeable as she appeared in the article. Tiffany joined this office 2 ½ years ago after convincing the two physicians, Doctors Ha and Moreland that they would benefit from her services. They never looked back.
The group stresses a personalized treatment program, both medical and aesthetic, with the philosophy being that the best skincare plan doesn’t need to be expensive. There just needs to be a plan. Unlike some of the other places we visited, these options ranged from the most expensive (Obagi) to your over-the-counter ‘pick it up at CVS’ types.
I found this to be the most conservative office (in a good way) of the ones visited, in that they do tons of research and testing (on themselves) before offering new techniques or equipment to their clientele -which may be the reason why Tiffany told me that, although available, no numbing cream is used for Botox application as the doctors were known for their ‘pain-free injections.’ “Pain free?,” I asked. “Pain free,” she reiterated.
Tiffany recommended microdermabrasion for me, which would remove the outermost layer of skin, diminish fine lines and hyperpigmentation. The procedure consisted of a hand-held device that propelled a high-speed flow of aluminum oxide crystals while the machine’s vacuum system sucked away dirt, dead cells and used crystals. “A good microdermabrasion should not be painful,” she said. She was right, the procedure itself was not uncomfortable and my skin looked noticeably refreshed (my friends thought I had had a good night’s sleep). (As a side note, she warned me about Diamond Peels, which superficially scratched your skin.)
Tiffany sent me home (as she does with allher clients) with a little goodie bag of sample products to try. The clinic runs monthly specials and rewards those who refer friends to them.
