So the husband of a good friend of mine who I haven’t seen for a couple of months was at a counter next to me in Costco. “Hey Nick,” I called out. He looked at me, then looked away and then looked again. We hugged and we started to talk. “Did you lose weight or something,” he interrupted. When I admitted I had he said (and this is why I love him): “It shows, I didn’t recognize you. You look great” OK, now that comment will be second on my all-time favorite list, the first being, “I was so busy, I forgot to eat.” Another 2 pounds this week.
I have to share this experience I had last week that was so amazing that I’m still reeling. Cristi Adkins, an I Am Modern mom, nurse, holistic consultant, and all around interesting person, invited me to try out a Foot Detox and a Light and Sound Machine Therapy. Because the Light and Sound Machine was so helpful, I’m dedicating that discussion on my next blog. For now, let’s talk Foot Detox.
During treatment sessions, your feet are bathed for 30 minutes in salt water that is subjected to a low-voltage current transmitted through an electrode assembly. Proponents say that the Detox Foot Bath is a natural way to detox the inside of your body with resulting health benefits and help for the aging process. For me, it was an exciting process because supposedly the process allows your body to start/continue to lose weight as it rids itself of the bad stuff. If you think about it, reflexology believes that each foot is a conduit, through which your body attempts to cleanse itself of toxic wastes and heavy metals that are building up in many parts of your body.
Those are the corresponding facts. If you’re eating right now, put down the food and read on. Here is what happened to me: As soon as Cristi turned on the machine, the water immediately began to turn brown-ish. Gross, I thought, but nothing prepared me for what happened next. I was doing the Light and Sound Machine (can’t wait to tell you about that) for the same half hour, so my eyes were closed. When I opened them the water was black/brown AND there was all sorts of floatie stuff. Same consistency as cottage cheese. I’ll stop here because I’m feeling my lip curl at the thought of it.
I would like to try it again for a couple of reasons: I’ve been losing weight at a better clip now and don’t remember if this happened before the detox or after. This I do know. Since I had the treatment, I have slept through the night which hasn’t happened in months. So, I leave you to make your own decision.
If you have any questions, why don’t you ask it on this forum and Cristi can answer it for you in greater detail, since she’s been doing this.
