As I drove home today with my top down (yes, I have a convertible!) my train of thought went something like this: 1) I need to schedule a pedicure since I'll be wearing my flip flops this weekend! 2) Humm, I wonder where I hid those summer favorites from last season? 3) Do my kids' flip flops still fit them? 4) I guess I should probably pick up a few new pair for the family since I am sure that none of ours will fit or frankly, be found. Bummer. 5) I wish I had some way of keeping these small flops together at the door without making my house look more cluttered. And then as I stopped for a quick errand in the store-- I saw it! A super cool, perfectly-large-enough-to-hold a few pairs of flops, cute-enough-to-be-left-out-of-the-closet, brightly colored tub that said FLIP FLOPS. And I was sold. In fact, in my excitement of storage supernova I purchased a few of these personalized containers that I think were made especially for me and my family. One for the toys, and one for the towels by the pool, and of course-- one for the flip flops by the door.... and I was done. Or was I?
With visions of gifts wandering in my head, I am pretty sure that I'll be back tomorrow to purchase a hostess gift for our friends with the beach house. Because I'm convinced that if we show up armed with a super-cute tub full of towels (perfect for any warm-weather location), surely they'll invite us again next year? Even IF my kids accidentally broke their favorite Adirondack chair?
And I accomplished all of this because of a drive home in my convertible. I can't wait to tell my husband about the great investment we made with the top-down kind of car! And of course, how smart his wife is for figuring out how to organize with style.
