Digg!

by Paru Rellan
It is only February and while it may seem like the school year is far away, it certainly is not early to start planning and researching your pre-school options for next year.

There are already waiting lists for some of Loudoun’s schools. Now is the perfect time to start visiting and researching your options

Loudoun County is among the fastest growing counties in the country which means that along with the growth of the residential and commercial community, there is also an exponential growth in demand for educational institutions. There are already waiting lists for some of Loudoun’s schools. Now is the perfect time to start visiting and researching your options. Here are some questions to help you select the best nest for your fledgeling. 1. What is their policy on discipline? 2. How is the building secured from strangers? 3. What are the qualification requirements of assistant teachers? 4. What is the child to teacher ratio? 5. What is their policy on a child that cries for more than 20 minutes? 6. What is the typical daily schedule? 7. How are parents informed of a child’s progress? 8. What, if any, activities are offered, i.e. Spanish, yoga, music, art, gymnastics, etc. 9. Could you supply us with 2 to 3 parent references? 10. How long does it take a child to adjust to a new school? To find a list of licensed preschools in Loudoun County go to www.dss.virginia.gov/facility/ search/licensed.cgi. There are also some schools in Loudoun County that offer part time programs for pre-schoolers.
