From the sprightly greetings one gets from the staff who greet you at Nysmith to the abundance of light streaming through massive windows surrounding the school, it is easy to see why children at Nysmith are contented kids. As they walk through the hallways between classes, you observe that they not only look happy, but they walk briskly and with a purpose. That purpose? To get to the next class… stat. And it’s not just a class. They are simply looking forward to their next “adventure.”One wonders if there is some clandestine secret to the success behind Nysmith School’s philosophy, but it is soon apparent that it’s based on a pretty rudimentary concept. Learning should be fun and, at Nysmith, it’s just that. That is not to say they don’t have a rigorous curriculum and that there’s not some serious learning going on here. On the contrary, their curriculum is challenging, and the incorporation of computers, science, logic and foreign languages can’t help but expand each and every student’s academic opportunities.
