Sleek, contemporary décor abounds at Hooked in Sterling. It’s a trendy upscale atmosphere one would expect downtown, not here in the suburbs. As my girlfriend and I arrived for a recent dinner we quickly learned that reservations are strongly recommended. The menu is vast, encompassing sushi, raw bar, soups, salads, seafood, pork, chicken and steak. I chose a signature sushi roll to start: spicy tuna with tempura flakes and avocado, fresh and delicious! My friend’s crab cake appetizer boasted large delicate chunks of crabmeat without any visible filler, served on a bed of greens. She enjoyed this so much she found herself eating every bite just short of the garnish. For my main course I enjoyed the Blacken Bluefish, a surprisingly nice fish seasoned with Cajon spices, blue cheese butter and roasted red pepper sauce. An odd sounding mix, but one that worked. A side of asparagus arrived perfectly grilled with a sprinkling of sea salt, lemon and Parmesan cheese. My friend chose the Chilean Sea Bass. The miso glaze was both sweet and salty and had been caramelized splendidly atop this delicate fish. A little too salty for my taste, however my friend was quite pleased. Desserts and Signature cocktails provided a perfect finish.
Outstanding service and delectable seafood, Hooked is a fusion of LA cool and NYC chic. Whether you stop in for drinks and music at the bar or to dine, one thing is for certain, you won’t be disappointed.
