From the cotton balls used to take off your makeup to the organic chocolate (yes!) spray tan, whatever is used is both good for you and the environment. In fact, this is the 1st ORGANIC Medi Spa in the US that hasbecome recognized by the co-op America as a socially responsible green company. AND they are pregnant mom safe!
The spa’s director Honi (pronounced Honey) Motarefi is downright passionate about finding the best combination of safety and value. “The first thing I recommend to anyone walking into the spa is that they use a shower filter. Not only does it remove impurities, such as chlorine, in our water, but it softens the skin and the hair.” Since we’re on the subject of hair: “Hair is our enemy,” says Honi. She should know. She is highly trained in both electrolysis and laser hair removal. In fact, she is well known as a dark skin hair removal (a specialty in itself). Oh, and did I tell you, she is only one of two laser specialists in the U.S who will laser treat eyebrow hair…….
The team allowed me to experience a smattering of some of their extensive menu. First, Honi showed me her laser hair removal skills. Painless. Next, Rachel Kaufman, one of the center’s specialists did an ion foot detox. Disgusting what comes off your body. Next I was given a sanitary (disposable) foot wax treatment (which uses no electricity) while Rachel gave me the Detox Heaven—hand and feet reflexology treatment, along with some Reiki healing. The pain I had in my knee left, along with any stress that I was feeling. Rachel is very talented.
All the while, I was given various flavors of green tea, ionized water, and Acai juice. “Our focus,” says Honi, “is to do medical aesthetics from the inside. Health is a gift.” There are so many facets of this place that the three hours I spent there felt like I had been away for a relaxing weekend. Recommend
