I was eager to try this full service salon and day spa that has been a fixture in Loudon County since 1977. My appointment was with Charlene March- Hair Port’s resident Master Makeup Artist; this excites me a great deal- rarely do I find a spa that has a specialized expert makeup artist on staff.
As I arrived for my appointment, one of Charlene’s client went out of her way to tell me, the first-timer, how special Charlene is and how extraordinary my experience will be. It is at this point I understand this is about so much more than make-up.
Charlene warmly greeted me and escorted me to her make-up studio-- a girl’s dream come true. It was stocked full of make-up in every color and type. So much to play with, so little time. Throughout the hour-long appointment, I was educated about technique, application, colors, and the benefits of mineral make-up. I also learned that Charlene began her career doing TV and print make-up over 10 years ago and that she had been a devout user of Jane Iredale mineral make-up since she first used it 5 years ago.
I also learned about Hair Port’s involvement in community service and major fundraising activities. For the past 10 years, Hair Port has dedicated the entire month of October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to raise money for City of Hope, a cancer research organization. I was impressed with the owners, Karen and Bill Bryan’s commitment and loved the idea of supporting a business that gives so much back to the community.
I found Charlene attentive, caring, and sincere, and I also discover first-hand what her previous client had meant. Although this appointment was not the typical “spa-like” service, I left Charlene feeling relaxed and pampered and a Jane Iredale Make-up junky.I looked natural, radiant, and flawless- wondering if I will be able to recreate this tomorrow morning.
The Outcome: With the nurturing environment, attentive staff, and comprehensive service menu, Hair Port will bring out the inner goddess in us all.
