Simple giveaways for popular items become stale after a while. Yes iPods are popular, but they are also reasonably priced. Companies giving away iPods to lure customers and/or encourage a certain behavior need to become more creative. I have always been a fan of Guerrilla Marketing. If you are not familiar with this term, according to Wikipedia it means "unconventional system of promotions that relies on time, energy and imagination rather than a big marketing budget."
When consumers are targeted in unexpected places with creative ideas, it creates memorable impressions. Here is a great example of a Guerrilla Marketing combined with a traditional advertising. This one comes from India and it is geared towards getting consumers to interact with the company using an iPod giveaway as a hook. Enjoy!
