The Hammond Foundation Makes a Joyful Noise at Dominion High

With a vision to create the signature fundraising-scholarship event, The Hammond Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) organization (www.thehammondfoundation.org), hosted its inaugural “Joyful Noise Holiday Bazaar and Bakeshop” on Saturday, November 13th at Dominion High School in Sterling, VA.

Local Girl Fighting Ovarian Cancer

In 2008, Zhara Khan an 18-year-old girl who lives in South Riding, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments, Zhara enjoyed a brief, four-month remission.  Unfortunately, her cancer returned in her liver.  She underwent treatment a second time only to find the cancer had spread to other parts of her body.  Zhara is now on home hospice care.

Her single mother, Rafia, is raising both Zhara and her brother and is staying home to care for her daughter. As one can only imagine, the situation has taken both an emotional and financial toll on Rafia and her small family.  Concerned friends and South Riding business owners are trying and make this family’s life a bit easier. Go to “Friends of Zhara” on FB for ideas on how you can help.
