So, I’m finally over whatever was ailing me this past week. I actually woke up yesterday feeling somewhat like myself. I also need to reaffirm my commitment because I just didn’t care that much. But somewhat and for some reason, even in my not really caring, I didn’t overdo it. I managed to maintain my weight loss, which at this point is 6.5 pounds.
Yeah!!!
To all of you who also told me that exercise would just be something that I will do, I hate to say, but you’re right. Even in my not feeling well, I did continue to exercise on my bike, every day except for one. That made me actually, how should I say it, happy!!?? I just felt like I was in control and being in control is more satisfying than a piece of chocolate cheesecake.
I mentioned last time that I’ve been doing a lot of reading about healthier lifestyles and weight, etc. I did come across something interesting: This was originally reported on WebMD: “A new study shows that the fruity aroma from grapefruit may be able to shave years off your appearance.” According to Alan B. Hirsch, neurological director of the Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation in Chicago, "In the presence of the smell of pink grapefruit, women appear to be six years younger than their real age."
What’s more, only male judgment was influenced by the citrus-y scent, while women’s estimates were unaffected. Hmmmm….
Another preliminary animal studies show that the scent of grapefruit oil may help reduce appetite. Which makes sense. As weightlossresources.co.uk indicates: “For some people the dilemma of being overweight starts in the mind: once the mind is healthy, the slimmer body will follow. Mentally, aromatherapy can help to combat stress and lift your mood.”
But the BEST grapefruit connection was in a magazine I read while waiting for my son at the orthodontist: The smell of grapefruit will, supposedly, shave off 5 pounds (seen only by males, of course).
OK, I was hooked. Five pounds and six years, and all I had to do was douse myself with grapefruit. The magazine mentioned Jo Malone Products as carrying an excellent Grapefruit cologne. I rushed home and got online to order it.
Out of stock.
That’s when I find that Jo Malone Grapefruit cologne was on Oprah’s Favorite Things List. Well, for goodness sakes.!
Fast forward two weeks and I now proudly hold 1 fl. Oz of this precious liquid. I spray some on and walk by my husband (I did have to walk by him a few times before he looked up). I could see him staring at me (maybe he was wondering what I up to). Eventually and to my surprise he said, “what’s for dinner.”
Oh well. It’s a good thing I like the cologne.
Citrus-ly yours,
Val
