Q: Looking for a something fun to do on New Years Eve as a family...the tricky part is the ages of the kids (18, 16, 11, 7) something that would be fun for everyone...Events Guru: Spending New Year’s Eve together as a family is such a wonderful way to ring in the new year! Even though it seems a bit tricky with children in varying age ranges, this is actually going to make for a fantastic party and lots of new memories to boot! Family games nights are always popular because they bring everyone together and draw out that competitive spirit. Here are a few creative ideas to put a twist on bringing the new year in with family:
1) Rockin’ New Year – Break out your Karaoke machine and/or Guitar/Band/DJ Hero games! Have each family member dress as a “rock star” and host a contest for best (and worse) dressed. The key is that everyone has to participate, so Mom and Dad have to be willing to sing songs from the children’s generation and vice versa. Make sure you have a video camera on hand because you will want to capture those moments for future bribes.
2) A Night at the Cinema – Host a family movie night. Play movies hits from 2010 or classic family favorites. Snuggle up together by the fireplace in pajamas and blankets. Be sure to serve classic movie food such as hot dogs, popcorn, nachos and movie size candy.
3) Family Gala Awards Night – Host your own family awards night. Have everyone “Dress to Impress” and make your own red carpet for everyone to walk. Make sure you have paparazzi there to get photos of everyone in their red carpet attire! Think of creative awards to give each person in the family (Most Funniest, Most Dramatic, Best Fall) and make it a night of the stars. Show the funniest home videos for extra laughs while you celebrate.
