MURAT AKSU is no stranger to Journalism. He worked for Playboy writing articles) in his younger years. Hanging around town, he is known as “Gastronome Magnifique” and a restaurant expert. In his long career as an executive traveling to the best cities in the world, he has become an expert in identifying great restaurants and not so great ones. He lives with his wife and two children in Ashburn.
VAL CAVALHERI, mother of Devon 15 and Dylan 21, is a writer/photographer living in South Riding. Her photography has been featured in both newspapers and magazines and she is sought after as an events photographer. She continues to write, most recently freelancing for the Washington Post.
DR. ZACHARY CASAGRANDE is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, a distinction held by less than 25% of orthodontists. A Northern Virginia native, he graduated from James Madison University, and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, magna cum laude, from the Medical College of Virginia. Dr. Casagrande also earned a Master of Science degree and a degree in Orthodontics from the Medical College of Virginia. During his time at MCV, he received grants from Pfizer for work on his master’s thesis. He remains a part of the Medical College of Virginia as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics. He currently resides in Loudoun County with wife Gena and children.
JESSAMYN AYERS is a writer living in Loudoun County with her husband and two children. Prior to the birth of her children, she was a high school English teacher in Fairfax County. She has degrees from James Madison University and George Washington University. The perfect day for her includes some combination of reading, writing, running and baseball.
TRACEY PARENT is a single modern-mom of two boys and one foster daughter. She is the President of the Loudoun foundation, a local community organization that provides musical enrichment programs for children. She is also the founder of the Loudoun Summer Music Fest, a community concert-series that takes place at Belmont Country Club in the Summer. Like most modern moms she has no free-time for herself so finding time to date has been like finding water in the Sahara...but she remains hopeful that when a moment presents itself, so will Mr. Right.
MICHAEL VONAL is an artist whose primary medium is photography. He cut his teeth in the rough and rugged world of photography in Los Angeles over twenty years ago, and is now actively pursuing his art in the DC metropolitan area. Michael is best known for his captivating portrait work, which showcases his uncanny ability to capture decisive moments, expressions, and the emotional complexities of his subjects. BILL MCKEE father of two beautiful girls ages 2 and 5, is a sales engineer by day, reverse food engineer by hobby. This man loves the kitchen and there is no recipe he is afraid to try. In fact, most get doctored-upbefore reaching the plate. His passion started during his college years after spending a summer in Cincinnati with his chef aunt. His love for the kitchen has grown and his lucky wife gets to sit back and relax while he makes the most delicious meals for family and friends.
SARAH ROHRBACH PETER has been a web hosting specialist, fitness trainer, broadcasting trade show organizer, clothing model, mortgage settlement officer and writer. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and lives in Ashburn with her husband and three small children.
DR. VALERIE WOO received her undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland and graduated cum laude from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She completed her pediatric dental residency at the Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and opened her pediatric dental practice, NOVA Pediatric Dentistry, in Ashburn in 2006. Dr. Val is a board-certified pediatric dentist and is actively involved in our local Autism Society, Northern Virginia Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Val, her husband, Michael, and children Olivia and Gavin, live in Leesburg. She enjoys running, all outdoor activities, scrap-booking, wine tasting, and traveling.
TUBA ACER lives in Atlanta, GA with her husband and 3 years old child, Bora. She is the web developer of www.iammodern.com. She has received her MBA degree from Southern Polytechnic State University and had Website Design Certificate from Kennesaw State University. She has currently owned her own company, Zogox Systems.
