That’s just what Michelle Bracken did and she’s now the proud co-owner of Frosting, A Cupcakery. She had always wanted to own her own shop but never had the confidence to do so. It wasn’t until her husband Todd planned a trip to New York City to tour cupcake shops that she realized she could do it. “It was on that trip that Todd encouraged me to pursue my passion and open a sweet shop. We walked into "Babycakes NYC" and he turned to me and said, ‘If they can do it, you can do this!’ We started working on a business plan shortly after our trip. As we planned and typed away at our business plan, Todd turned to me and asked if he could make my dream, his dream. The rest is history.”
Since I came to the United States in 1987, I have been a big fan of muffins and cupcakes (muffin with icing). When I was in college, I used to buy these gigantic muffins at a place called the Mill Bakery and Eatery. I believe the partners got into an internal fight and all locations including the one in Tallahassee closed down.

Since 1988, Alexandria Pastry Shop has been making tasty treats of all sorts for people all over the D.C. area. No cake has preservatives and is always super fresh. They use only the freshest ingredients: fresh cream from Shenandoah Valley creameries, farm eggs, sweet butter, fresh fruit, and chocolate from Belgium and France. Their cakes are split into two seasonal lists, the Fall/Winter list and the Spring/Summer list. The Fall/Winter list features cakes like Praline and White Buttercream and the Spring and Summer list features other flavors like Strawberry Shortcake. Cakes come in ten sizes and range from $18.99 to $132.99. They also offer wedding cakes, cookies, pastries, and cheesecakes.
Need a caffeine boost? Try the Chocolate Buzz cupcake with espresso and Kahlua flavors. With best sellers like Amazing Amaretto, Carrot Cake, Chocolate Mousse Bliss, and more, there is something for everyone. Try something different one of their half pound cupcakes like More S’more or Carrot Cake. In 2008, Edibles Incredible won Product of the Year by Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, so their treats must be good. Prices start range from $29 to $54 and are slightly more expensive for liquor based cakes. Cupcakes start at $3.50 and are also slightly more expensive for liquor based flavors.
