How to pick up of a few more of those memorable pigmented sun spots

In college, I vowed to forego anti-aging procedures and products, to accept maturity with dignity and grace. Then, I was fresh faced and youthful, now, I bear forehead creases, laugh lines, and pigmented age spots.

It has only been a decade, so from where have these signs of aging come? The answer is simple. I am a Mom.

I spend many midnight hours worrying over the well-being of my kids. So yes, my forehead has begun to crease. Each line a testament to the mental effort I put into parenting.

The laugh lines? My kids have priceless insights, bringing precious laughter to life that would be meaningless without them. Would I prefer to keep a straight face during the multitude of joyful moments? Nope. I'll take the lines.

Freckle-like age spots have resulted from trips to the park, swimming, hiking, camping, lines at Disneyland, weeks at the beach, and hours of playing outside. I have a photo album that attests to the origination of each memorable spot. Last July my family relocated to Ashburn. Due to lack of obligation, we spent hours at the pool. More sun, more spots. This transition brought more sleepless nights, worrying, wrinkling, over my children's assimilation into life in Loudoun. Thankfully, it also brought more laughter, more lines, as I have watched my kids delight in their new environment.

But accept my age with dignity and grace? No thanks.

The seasons will quickly lead to another summer and I will find myself another year older. What will I do? The possibilities are bountiful, endless, but all have one thing in common. I will be there, with my kids, picking up a few more of those memorable, pigmented, sun spots.

As for the artificial perpetuation of youth - bring it on. I will embrace it with dignity and grace.
