Carried Away

"I get carried away by the look by the light in your eyes
Before I even realize the ride I'm on baby I'm long gone
I get carried away nothin' matters but bein' with you
Like a feather flyin' high up in the sky on a windy day, I get carried away"

I love George Strait. No, I don't think you understand. I extra, big, squishy heart LOVE him. I think for five years strait (get it, strait? ha) I saw him in concert. I can hear the beginning of Amarillo By Morning and go into hysterics with the best of them. I once even flew to Atlanta to see him play at the George Strait Country Music Festival in the Atlanta Braves stadium. Oh, that was a memorable weekend...

Buckle Your Seatbelts...

“You can’t build a reputation on what you are going to do.” – Henry Ford

Word to the wise~ It is possible to actually gain weight by going to the gym. After putting in a solid forty-five minutes on the Precor machine yesterday, I picked my kids up from the Kid's Club. Lo and behold, they were offering free cake to the kids to advertise "Kidz Club Birthday Parties." Not being one to resist, when I saw the small sign that said, Members help yourself to cake, I gladly took a piece. 400 calories burnt on the machine... followed by 600 calories down the hatch in a mere 4 minutes. Ugh!

If I didn't have a husband...

Believe it or not, I don't put everything on this blog. Almost everything, but there are some things that are personal in my life... Not many, but a few. Luckily, I have a happy home life- but last night, it was totally the witching hour. My poor hubby could have brought me home my favorite pizza, rubbed my back, and showered me with compliments and I still would have found something wrong with him. And for no reason! I was in a mood- and luckily he sometimes knows me better than I know myself. He finally just looked at me and told me that I was PMS'ing and he’d take over the bedtime routine with the kids. When I looked at the calendar, he was right. Ugh! Don't worry, we made up- nothing like couples therapy of enjoying TV together. He might kill me for saying it, but we've both fallen prey to the new Beverly Hills 90210.:)

Giveaway Time:)

Why do people run? There are so many answers to this question. Some run for themselves. Some run for their kids. Some run to lose weight. Some run for wine. And yes, it's true- some run because they actually enjoy it!

I'm trying to find my love for running- but I will be the first to admit I don't know if those two will ever be associated together. The last race I ran in, I thought I was going to die. Perhaps it was the ringing I heard in my ears, or maybe it was the thick film of gunk foaming from my mouth. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to having a goal to work for and the upcoming 5k.

Couch to 5k...

Many of you know that I have an article in the current issue of I Am Modern magazine... You can find it here: http://www.iammodern.com/when-a-man-loves-a-woman.html. When I sat down to write the article, I sent the following version off... to which one of the editors sweetly replied, "Back to the drawing board." Ha! "This, my dear, is a news article, not a blog about you." I'm so glad I had someone to lean on, because this was a rambling mess... as are most of my blogs.:)

Reading and writing and 'rithmatic, taught to the sound of a hickory stick... School days, School days...

Usually the end of summer sends me into depression. I look at the empty pool and feel empty myself- but not this year. I am soooo excited to get back into a routine! The start of school has brought about so many things...

Rainbows

It's never a good sign when you wake up and find a plastic trashcan beside your bed. My hubby must not have had high expectations for me. So, where to I start?... I could quite possibly yak right now- The last time I had a sip of alcohol was at that Belmont Country Club concert when I had the walk of shame. Ya know- one of those nights that you promise never to drink again. I do think I invented the vagina guitar that night. Ping. Ping….

A day in the life...

A day in my life... bullet style:

-I woke up with a queasy feeling in my stomach. I had such high hopes about Willow House... you know- trips to the Caribbean, monthly gas bonuses, and extra spending money... but I tanked. It was a fabulous party and I had a ton of fun- but once again- sales are not my calling. I think I gave away items at more than my discounted price at least three times. Oops. That was a quick run... early retirement it is.:)

New Gig

I am sooooo not a salesperson. In my dream world, I'd be a realtor. I know every street in Loudoun County and could spend every hour of every day going through homes- but I'm just not the go-getter type. Or maybe it's that my hubby always reminds me of my infamous open house story... When my husband took on a new job, I was convinced I could sell our home in Richmond. I cleaned the house, got balloons, and set out my Open House signs. All morning long, I was waiting for visitors... and no one came. My hubby ran an errand and realized that I had used crayola washable markers and it had rained. Oops. Blank open house signs always do the trick, right? But needless to say, I had one visitor that day... and the house was sold by yours truly.

Do You?

Do you know how it feels to be completely happy and content in life, but to have thoughts run through your head all the time about how much happier you'd be if you could just lose weight?

I do.

Do you ever get sick of starting out your day with a nutritious breakfast just to fall off the wagon by lunch and binge the rest of the day because you are mad at yourself?

I do.
